Class description: Painting with plaster will open your mind to a multitude of possibilities for both fine art painting and decorative applications. We begin with plaster on cloth and learn how to distress and crackle the surface. Acrylic paints work well with plaster and I will share several methods for embossing plaster. We will apply a transparent transfer and finish with adding shadows for depth and details to bring the image to life by adding paint highlights. You will come away with new information on products, techniques and composition and color.
Tools required by students: paint clothes or apron, spray bottle for water
Products used in class: Modern Master, Papilio and Ampersand panels
Bio: Sandra Duran Wilson comes from a family of artists and scientists. She grew up in a world where everything was possible, where she would look through the microscope in her father’s office and then draw what she saw. Sandra has synesthesia, a crossing of the senses, and she uses sound to influence her work. Her scientific studies has directed her work from realism to abstract mixed media.
Sandra Duran Wilson is an award-winning artist, author of six art technique books, several DVD's, numerous online classes and she writes for Acrylic Artist and Cloth Paper Scissors magazines. She has exhibited her work internationally and she teaches workshops around the globe. She lives in Santa Fe, NM
